HUNGRIG
Development has finally kicked off!
Hungrig is a simplistic 2d side scrolling platformer with an emphasis on being odd.
The aim of the game is to basically go and check the kitchen for food.
How you do that I don't know.
CONCEPTUALISING HUNGRIG
Originally, I wanted to make the premise of the game about something mundane and uninteresting, but yet relatable. Then I could somehow turn into a fun, or at least interesting game/experience. I settled on the mundane, relatable act of ritualistically checking the fridge for food and then deciding you didn't want food anyway.
GAMEPLAY
As far as gameplay goes I'm still kind of sorting that out, I don't want it to be too complex as to draw away from the simplicity of the game, but not to simple either as to make it boring. I've had thoughts about some kind of platforming gameplay or collection gameplay, but none of those seem to fit right. I'm planning to feel my way through it and test out some different things as I build up the base for the game.
SO FAR
I made a few sprites animating my lizard character and also one for a falling door.
Implemented movement and my own simplistic ground tiles too.
Currently working on getting a start menu up and running controlled by moving the character to doors which start the game or open settings.
